Extended School Year Services

Extended School Year (ESY) services are provided in all Site-based Programs. For students that attend the Mackworth Island Preschool and Portland programs the ESY services are generally provided 3-days a week on Mackworth Island for a 4-week period during the summer. Students in the Brewer Site-based Program can attend ESY in Brewer.

There is no fixed amount, type, or duration of ESY services. Each student is entitled to receive the services necessary to ensure they receive an appropriate education based on their needs. During the IEP Team meeting to determine eligibility and services for ESY, fewer, more, or alternative services may be discussed. ESY Services are available statewide through Public School Outreach by placing a service request after the IEP meeting.
